Terms of Service

Please read these terms before you use Yesterly.
Version v1.0, effective October 26, 2026.

01 / Acceptance of these terms

These terms are an agreement between you and Shanghai Jiyue Information Technology Co., Ltd. ("we" or "us") covering the Yesterly website, desktop app and cloud account service (together, the "Service"). By creating an account, logging in, buying a plan or using the app, you confirm that you have read and agree to these terms and our Privacy Policy.

You must be at least 18 years old and have the legal capacity to enter into this agreement. If you don't agree to these terms, don't use the Service.

02 / The Service

Yesterly is a local-first AI tool for keeping a record of your work and writing recaps. The app captures your screen on your device as you work, organizes the captures into a local timeline, and uses AI models to write daily recaps, weekly updates and custom recaps. The website and our cloud service handle account login, device authorization, plan entitlements, orders and payments, and support.

Your entries, timeline and recap text are stored on your device. Our cloud service doesn't store or sync this content. The availability of app installers is shown on the Download page.

03 / Accounts and eligibility

  • Sign up with a real email address at which you can be reached, and keep your password and authorized devices secure.
  • Your account is for your own use only. You may not rent, sell, transfer or share it. Each account keeps only one desktop app login session at a time.
  • Anything done through your account is treated as done by you. If you notice unauthorized use of your account, contact us immediately.
  • Each account can claim the free trial allowance once. You may not claim it more than once by registering accounts in bulk or by similar means.

04 / Fees, plans and refunds

Prices and plans. You get the free trial when you sign up. See the Pricing page for its allowance. Paid plans are monthly, quarterly or annual. Prices on the pricing page are listed in US dollars. The amount you pay is the Chinese yuan (CNY) amount shown on the confirmation page when you place your order, charged through WeChat Pay.

Payment and activation. We currently accept WeChat Pay. Your plan is granted only after the payment provider confirms your payment. You can see each plan and order under My plan.

No auto-renewal. Each plan lasts for the period you choose. We never charge you or renew your plan automatically. If you buy again, or buy several plans, each one extends your plan period in turn and never replaces your current plan.

Refunds. Plans are digital services that start immediately, so as a rule we don't offer refunds without cause. You can contact us to request a refund if: (1) you paid twice, or were charged more than once by mistake; (2) your plan can't be used for an extended period for reasons on our side and the problem can't be fixed; or (3) a refund is required by law or regulation. Approved refunds are calculated from the amount actually paid for the order and the unused part of the plan period, and are returned to the original payment method. When the money arrives depends on the payment channel. Once a refund is complete, your plan is adjusted accordingly.

Third-party fees. Fees, quotas and rate limits for your own API key or for a model you sign in to with your AI provider are set by that provider. They are separate from your plan fees and are not refundable by us.

05 / AI model disclosure

AI features in the Service come from the sources below. The specific models are those shown on the model settings page in the app and in the list of built-in models for your plan:

  • Built-in model: the official model used during your plan to recognize your screen captures. We configure it, and it may change as the Service evolves.
  • Your own API key or provider sign-in: model services that you choose and configure yourself. The app sends requests directly to that provider.
  • Local model: a compatible model that you run on your own computer.
  • DeepSeek (web): recap material is handed to the DeepSeek web page to process.

If a model changes materially, we will update this information in the app or on the website.

06 / AI output and intellectual property

You hold the rights to your entries, your input and the recaps generated from them, and you are responsible for making sure they are lawful. We don't claim ownership of this content.

AI output may be incomplete, wrong or inaccurate, and is for reference only. Check it yourself before you submit or publish it, or make decisions based on it. We are not responsible for the consequences of relying on it.

The intellectual property in Yesterly's software, interface, trademarks, icons and documentation belongs to us or the respective rights holders. We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use it. You may not reverse engineer, decompile, crack or resell it, or remove its license checks.

07 / Acceptable use and prohibited content

You may not use the Service to capture, process or generate the following content, or to engage in the following conduct:

  • pornographic, obscene or sexually exploitative content, and any unsafe content involving minors;
  • graphic violence, terrorism, or content that encourages self-harm;
  • hate speech, discrimination, harassment, defamation, or content that infringes the reputation or privacy rights of others;
  • deepfakes, impersonating others, or defrauding others;
  • content that infringes the copyrights, trademarks, trade secrets or other intellectual property of others;
  • monitoring or capturing other people's screens or personal information without their consent, or capturing protected information in violation of your organization's confidentiality rules;
  • distributing malware, attacking or circumventing the Service's security, billing or authorization mechanisms, registering accounts in bulk, or abusing our APIs;
  • any other conduct that violates laws and regulations, public order or good morals.

Use the screen capture features only in compliance with applicable law and your organization's rules, and with any necessary authorization.

08 / Enforcement, reporting and review

We don't store your work content and can't review content on your device. We do carry out compliance and security management of cloud accounts, plans and usage. If we find a violation, we may, depending on its severity, issue a warning, restrict features, suspend or terminate the account, or clear any remaining allowance, and we will cooperate with competent authorities where the law requires.

You can report accounts or conduct that violate these terms using the contact details below. We will accept and respond to reports within 15 business days, and preserve evidence and take action where necessary.

09 / Changes to and interruption of the Service

We may change or suspend some features because of upgrades and maintenance, changes to third-party services, or force majeure. For planned extended interruptions, we will try to give advance notice on the website or in the app. If the Service can't be used for an extended period during your plan for reasons on our side, section 04 applies.

10 / Disclaimer and limitation of liability

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available." To the maximum extent permitted by law, we make no warranties and accept no liability for: loss of local data caused by device failure, system updates, accidental deletion or missing backups; interruptions or errors of third-party models, payment services or networks; the accuracy or suitability of AI output; or losses caused by your violation of these terms or the law.

To the extent permitted by law, our total liability to you is limited to the fees you actually paid for the relevant Service in the 12 months before the event. This section doesn't affect any liability that cannot be limited by law.

11 / Your liability

If your violation of these terms or of laws and regulations causes loss to us or to a third party, you are responsible for it, including compensating the loss and the reasonable costs of protecting the affected rights.

12 / Termination

You can stop using the Service at any time and contact us to delete your account. When your account is deleted, your plan and any remaining allowance end, unless you qualify for a refund. If you seriously violate these terms, we may suspend or terminate the Service. After termination, work content saved locally stays on your device.

13 / Changes to these terms

When we change these terms, we will update the version number and effective date on this page. For material changes, we will post a notice on the website or in the app at least 14 days before they take effect. If you keep using the Service after the changes take effect, you accept the new terms. If you don't agree, stop using the Service. You can ask us to delete your account.

14 / Governing law and disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of the People's Republic of China (excluding the laws of Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan). Any dispute arising from these terms should first be resolved through friendly negotiation. If negotiation fails, either party may bring a lawsuit before the competent people's court where our operating entity is located.
